Satan Has Been Mentioned In Quran

In this blog I have made a humble attempt to spread awareness about satan, who happens to be the biggest enemy of all the human beings. Unfortunately, a lot of people do not understand the concept of satan, as mentioned in the holy Quran. Even if they do understand the nature of satan theydo not make any attempt to protect themselves from satan. There is a clear mention of satan in the holy Quran in several places. I am posting all those verses from the holy Quran related to satan, which Ihave come across.
(2:36)2:36 (Y. Ali) Then did satan make them slip from the (garden), and get them out of the state (of felicity) in which they had been. Wesaid: "Get ye down, all (ye people), with enmity between yourselves. On earth will be your dwelling-place and your means of livelihood - for a time.
"Al-Imran (The Family of Imran)إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْاْ مِنكُمْ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ إِنَّمَا اسْتَزَلَّهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ بِبَعْضِ مَا كَسَبُواْ وَلَقَدْ عَفَا اللّهُ عَنْهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ غَفُورٌحَلِيمٌ (3:155)3:155 (Y. Ali) Those of you who turned back on the day the two hosts Met,-it was satan who caused them to fail, because of some (evil) they had done. But Allah Has blotted out (their fault): For Allah isOft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing. (4:60)4:60 (Y. Ali) Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who declare thatthey believe in the revelations that have come to thee and to those before thee? Their (real) wish is to resort together for judgment (in their disputes) to the Evil One, though they were ordered to rejecthim. But satan's wish is to lead them astray far away (from the right).An-Nisa (The Women)الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ الطَّاغُوتِ فَقَاتِلُواْ أَوْلِيَاء الشَّيْطَانِ إِنَّ كَيْدَ الشَّيْطَانِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا (4:76)4:76 (Y. Ali) Those who believe fightin the cause of Allah, and those whoreject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of satan.
(4:83)4:83 (Y. Ali) When there comes to them some matter touching (Public)safety or fear, they divulge it. If they had only referred it to the Messenger, or to those charged with authority among them, the proper investigators would have Tested it from them (direct). Were it not for the Grace and Mercy of Allah unto you, all but a few of you would have fallen into the clutches of satan.
(4:117)4:117 (Y. Ali) (The Pagans), leaving Him, call but upon female deities:
They call but upon satan the persistent rebel! (4:119)4:119 (Y. Ali) "I will mislead them, and I will create in them false desires; I will order them to slit theears of cattle, and to deface the (fair) nature created by Allah." Whoever, forsaking Allah, takes satan for a friend, hath of a surety suffered a loss that is manifest. (4:120)4:120 (Y. Ali) satan makes them promises, and creates in them falsedesires; but satan's promises are nothing but deception. (5:90)5:90 (Y. Ali) O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of satan's handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper. (5:91)5:91 (Y. Ali) satan's plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer: will ye not then abstain? (6:43)6:43 (Y. Ali) When the suffering reached them from us, why then did they not learn humility? On the contrary their hearts became hardened, and satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them. (6:68)6:68 (Y. Ali) When thou seest men engaged in vain discourse about Our signs, turn away from them unless they turn to a different theme. If satan ever makes thee forget, then after recollection, sit not thou in the company of those who do wrong. (6:142)6:142 (Y. Ali) Of the cattle are somefor burden and some for meat: eat what Allah hath provided for you, and follow not the footsteps of satan: for he is to you and avowed enemy. (7:20)7:20 (Y. Ali) Then began satan to whisper suggestions to them, bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said: "Your Lord only forbade you this tree, lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for ever."Al-A'raf (The Heights)فَدَلاَّهُمَا بِغُرُورٍ فَلَمَّا ذَاقَا الشَّجَرَةَ بَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَاتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ الْجَنَّةِ وَنَادَاهُمَا رَبُّهُمَا أَلَمْ أَنْهَكُمَا عَن تِلْكُمَا الشَّجَرَةِ وَأَقُل لَّكُمَا إِنَّ الشَّيْطَآنَ لَكُمَا عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ (7:22)7:22 (Y. Ali) So by deceit he broughtabout their fall: when they tasted ofthe tree, their shame became manifest to them, and they began to sew together the leaves of the garden over their bodies. And theirLord called unto them: "Did I not forbid you that tree, and tell you that satan was an avowed enemy unto you?"Al-A'raf (The Heights)يَا بَنِي آدَمَ لاَ يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ كَمَا أَخْرَجَ أَبَوَيْكُم مِّنَ الْجَنَّةِ يَنزِعُ عَنْهُمَا لِبَاسَهُمَا لِيُرِيَهُمَا سَوْءَاتِهِمَا إِنَّهُ يَرَاكُمْ هُوَوَقَبِيلُهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ تَرَوْنَهُمْ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا الشَّيَاطِينَ أَوْلِيَاء لِلَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ (7:27)7:27 (Y. Ali) O ye Children of Adam! Let not satan seduce you, in the same manner as He got your parents out of the Garden, stripping them of their raiment, to expose their shame: for he and his tribe watch you from a position where ye cannot see them: We made the evil ones friends (only) tothose without faith. (7:175)7:175 (Y. Ali) Relate to them the story of the man to whom We sent Our signs, but he passed them by: so satan followed him up, and he went astray. (7:200)7:200 (Y. Ali) If a suggestion from satan assail thy (mind), seek refuge with Allah. for He heareth and knoweth (all things).Al-A'raf (The Heights)إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَواْ إِذَا مَسَّهُمْ طَائِفٌ مِّنَ الشَّيْطَانِ تَذَكَّرُواْ فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْصِرُونَ (7:201)7:201 (Y. Ali) Those who fear Allah, when a thought of evil from satan assaults them, bring Allah to remembrance, when lo! they see (aright)!Al-Anfal (The Spoils of War)إِذْ يُغَشِّيكُمُ النُّعَاسَ أَمَنَةً مِّنْهُ وَيُنَزِّلُ عَلَيْكُم مِّن السَّمَاء مَاء لِّيُطَهِّرَكُم بِهِ وَيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمْ رِجْزَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَلِيَرْبِطَ عَلَى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتَ بِهِ الأَقْدَامَ (8:11)8:11 (Y. Ali) Remember He covered you with a sort of drowsiness, to give you calm as from Himself, and he caused rain to descend on you from heaven, to clean you therewith, to remove from you the stain of satan, to strengthen your hearts, and to plant your feet firmly therewith.-Al-Anfal (The Spoils of War)وَإِذْ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ وَقَالَ لاَ غَالِبَ لَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَإِنِّي جَارٌ لَّكُمْ فَلَمَّا تَرَاءتِ الْفِئَتَانِ نَكَصَ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ وَقَالَإِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِّنكُمْ إِنِّي أَرَى مَا لاَ تَرَوْنَ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ اللّهَ وَاللّهُ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ (8:48)8:48 (Y. Ali) Remember satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them, and said: "No one among men can overcome you this day, while I am near to you": But when the two forces came in sight of eachother, he turned on his heels, and said: "Lo! I am clear of you; lo! I seewhat ye see not; Lo! I fear Allah. forAllah is strict in punishment."Yusuf (Joseph)قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ لاَ تَقْصُصْ رُؤْيَاكَ عَلَى إِخْوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُواْ لَكَ كَيْدًا إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لِلإِنسَانِ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ (12:5)12:5 (Y. Ali) Said (the father): "My (dear) little son! relate not thy vision to thy brothers, lest they concoct a plot against thee: for satan is to man an avowed enemy!Yusuf (Joseph)وَقَالَ لِلَّذِي ظَنَّ أَنَّهُ نَاجٍ مِّنْهُمَا اذْكُرْنِي عِندَ رَبِّكَ فَأَنسَاهُ الشَّيْطَانُ ذِكْرَ رَبِّهِ فَلَبِثَ فِي السِّجْنِ بِضْعَ سِنِينَ (12:42)12:42 (Y. Ali) And of the two, to thatone whom he consider about to be saved, he said: "Mention me to thy lord." But satan made him forget tomention him to his lord: and (Joseph) lingered in prison a few (more) years. (12:100)12:100 (Y. Ali) And he raised his parents high on the throne (of dignity), and they fell down in prostration, (all) before him. He said: "O my father! this is the fulfilment of my vision of old! Allahhath made it come true! He was indeed good to me when He took me out of prison and brought you (all here) out of the desert, (even) after satan had sown enmity between me and my brothers. Verily my Lord understandeth best the mysteries of all that He planneth to do, for verily He is full of knowledge and wisdom. (14:22)14:22 (Y. Ali) And satan will say when the matter is decided: "It wasAllah Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you but ye listened to me: then reproach not me, but reproach your own souls. I cannot listen to your cries, nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with Allah. For wrong-doers there must be a grievous penalty."An-Nahl (The Bee)تَاللّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَى أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ الْيَوْمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ (16:63)16:63 (Y. Ali) By Allah, We (also) sent (Our apostles) to Peoples before thee; but satan made, (to the wicked), their own acts seem alluring: He is also their patron today, but they shall have a most grievous penalty. (16:98)16:98 (Y. Ali) When thou dost read the Qur'an, seek Allah's protection from satan the rejected one. (17:53)17:53 (Y. Ali) Say to My servants that they should (only) say those things that are best: for satan doth sow dissensions among them: For satan is to man an avowed enemy. (17:64)17:64 (Y. Ali) "Lead to destruction those whom thou canst among them, with thy (seductive) voice; make assaults on them with thy cavalry and thy infantry; mutually share with them wealth and children; and make promises to them." But satan promises them nothing but deceit. (18:63)18:63 (Y. Ali) He replied: "Sawest thou (what happened) when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget (about) the Fish: nonebut satan made me forget to tell (you) about it: it took its course through the sea in a marvellous way!"Maryam (Mary)يَا أَبَتِ لَا تَعْبُدِ الشَّيْطَانَ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَنِ عَصِيًّا (19:44)19:44 (Y. Ali) "O my father! serve not satan: for satan is a rebel against ((Allah)) Most Gracious.Maryam (Mary)يَا أَبَتِ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِّنَ الرَّحْمَن فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَانِ وَلِيًّا (19:45)19:45 (Y. Ali) "O my father! I fear lest a Penalty afflict thee from ((Allah)) Most Gracious, so that thoubecome to satan a friend."Ta-Haفَوَسْوَسَ إِلَيْهِ الشَّيْطَانُ قَالَ يَاآدَمُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى شَجَرَةِ الْخُلْدِ وَمُلْكٍ لَّا يَبْلَى (20:120)20:120 (Y. Ali) But satan whispered evil to him: he said, "O Adam! shall I lead thee to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that never decays?"Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage)وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ وَلَا نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا إِذَا تَمَنَّى أَلْقَى الشَّيْطَانُ فِي أُمْنِيَّتِهِ فَيَنسَخُ اللَّهُ مَا يُلْقِي الشَّيْطَانُ ثُمَّ يُحْكِمُ اللَّهُ آيَاتِهِ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ (22:52)22:52 (Y. Ali) Never did We send an apostle or a prophet before thee, but, when he framed a desire, satan threw some (vanity) into his desire: but Allah will cancel anything (vain) that satan throws in, and Allah will confirm (and establish) His Signs: for Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom:Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage)لِيَجْعَلَ مَا يُلْقِي الشَّيْطَانُ فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَالْقَاسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ لَفِي شِقَاقٍ بَعِيدٍ (22:53)22:53 (Y. Ali) That He may make thesuggestions thrown in by satan, but a trial for those in whose hearts is adisease and who are hardened of heart: verily the wrong-doers are ina schism far (from the Truth):Al-Nour (The Light)يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ وَمَن يَتَّبِعْ خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِنَّهُ يَأْمُرُ بِالْفَحْشَاء وَالْمُنكَرِ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ مَا زَكَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ أَبَدًا وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُزَكِّي مَن يَشَاء وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ (24:21)24:21 (Y. Ali) O ye who believe! follow not satan's footsteps: if any will follow the footsteps of satan, he will (but) command what is shameful and wrong: and were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, not one of you would ever have been pure: but Allah doth purify whom He pleases: and Allah is One Who hears and knows (all things).An-Naml (The Ants)وَجَدتُّهَا وَقَوْمَهَا يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ (27:24)27:24 (Y. Ali) "I found her and her people worshipping the sun besidesAllah. satan has made their deeds seem pleasing in their eyes, and has kept them away from the Path,-so they receive no guidance,-Al-Qasas (The Narration)وَدَخَلَ الْمَدِينَةَ عَلَى حِينِ غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْأَهْلِهَا فَوَجَدَ فِيهَا رَجُلَيْنِ يَقْتَتِلَانِ هَذَا مِن شِيعَتِهِ وَهَذَا مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ فَاسْتَغَاثَهُ الَّذِي مِن شِيعَتِهِ عَلَى الَّذِي مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَى فَقَضَى عَلَيْهِ قَالَ هَذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ إِنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ مُّضِلٌّ مُّبِينٌ (28:15)28:15 (Y. Ali) And he entered the city at a time when its people were not watching: and he found there two men fighting,- one of his own religion, and the other, of his foes. Now the man of his own religion appealed to him against his foe, and Moses struck him with his fist and made an end of him. He said:"This is a work of Evil (satan): for he is an enemy that manifestly misleads!"Luqman (Luqman)وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ يَدْعُوهُمْإِلَى عَذَابِ السَّعِيرِ (31:21)31:21 (Y. Satan Is A Learned, Black Magician Devil/Jinnat

Satan is a powerful black
magician himself and he
can cast various sorts of
powerful black magic
spells. He teaches the magicians, under his
control, new tricks of casting spells. This has
been mentioned in Surah Baqarah, verse:102

The Significance Of Having A Teacher (Ustad) In Amalyaat

The backing of an ustad is
indispensable for an amel.
Performing chillas to bring
jinnat under one’s control is
like playing with fire. It is a
highly risky work that cannot
be done by an amil single-
handedly. Just like a child needs help at every
step and gets the support of his parents if he
stumbles, similarly a novice amil gets help from
his teacher. If the amil happens to make some
mistake, then his teacher handles the situation
and saves him from getting into serious trouble
at the hands of the jinnat.
The amil shares all the incidences that take
place once his amal begins, with his teacher. If
the jinnat are trying to fool the amil in any way
the teacher, who has much more experience,
understands their ploy and deals with them
cleverly.
Unfortunately, many people who are oblivious of
the importance of having a teacher’s support in
amalyaat end up destroying their life. They may
get into insurmountable difficulties and then
regret having tried to enter into this field. So in
order to protect oneself from facing so much
trouble it is advisable to take the help of an
experienced teacher. This is because if the amil
gets into any trouble then only his teacher can
bring him out of the difficulties and guide him.

Demonic Possession (An Introduction)

Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran:
“(All) praise is (due) to Allah, Lord of the
worlds”
(TMQ-1:2)
The word ‘worlds’ refers to the world in which
live, the world above us, i.e. heaven and all
that lies in between. Our world is inhabited by
human beings whereas the angels live in the
heaven. The remaining spiritual entities, such
as the jinnat, demons or evil spirits exist in the
world in-between our world and the heaven.
For those who have a strong faith no proof or
explanation is needed to convince them about
these spiritual entities and for those who lack
faith, no amount of proof would ever be
sufficient.
Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said,
“When the wings of the night spread-or when
evening comes- keep your children in, for the
devils come out at that time. Then when part of
the night has passed, let them go. And close
the doors and mention the name of Allah, for
the Satan does not open a closed door. And tie
up your water skins and mention the name of
Allah and cover your vessels and mention the
name of Allah even if you only put something
over them, and extinguish your lamps”.
(Narrated by Al-Bukhari-3280 and Muslim-2012)
This hadith shows that the evil entities become
active after the sunset. This is because such
entities are forms of dark energies and they
need darkness and also stillness of air in order
to materialize and become fully powerful.
The evil spirits and jinnat inhabit mostly these
places:
Desolate places ruins
Unclean places such as toilets, garbage dumps,
dunghills
Graveyards
Generally, such wandering spirits do not harm
human beings. However, there are times when
they fear encroachment on their territories by
us. At other times they fear being overridden by
us. It is in such cases that they tend to attack
a human being to take revenge. There is no
dearth of cases where the resident spirits try to
ward off people to guard their privacy. In one
such case, people have experienced in a
haunted building- cold spots, strange voices
and inability to ascend a particular stair case
due to some inexplicable force.
In general terms, the word ‘possess’ means to
hold as property or to occupy. However, in our
topic of discussion the word ‘possessed’ means
being under the influence of a spirit. There is
evidence of being possessed and maddened by
evil entities in the Holy Quran.
“Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran:
Those who eat Riba (usury) wil not stand (on
the Day of Resurrection) except like standing of
a person beaten by Satan, leading him to
madness”. (TMQ-2:275)
When a person is possessed by a spirit it is
likely to drive him to insanity because the spirit
takes his mind totally under his control. If the
spirit is devilish then it can spread evil
through the person who is possessed. In such a
case it is hardly surprising that the one who is
possessed loses his sanity totally.
In the subsequent posts I shall probe into this
topic further and I shall be dealing with its
various facets and also its cure, Inshallah.

Islamic Exorcism

If a person has a brush with an evil spirit and
he becomes possessed then he or she urgently
needs the help of an exorcist. An Islamic
exorcist is a spiritual healer (Raaqi) who has
mystical powers by using which he can expel
the evil spirits from a person or place.
Allah (swt) said in the Holy Quran:
“And We send down of the Quran that which is
a healing and a mercy to the believers, and the
believers it causes not except loss” (TMQ-17:82)
An Islamic exorcist can drive out an evil spirit
from a person’s body by performing Ruqyah
with the Quranic verses. It goes without saying
that a Raaqi should be a pious person who has
knowledge of Islam and knows about the
healing methods which are in accordance with
the Sunnah of the Prophet.
Narrated Awf Bin alik-Al-Ashjai :Awf Bin alik-Al-
Ashjai said to the Prophet (pbuh), ‘OAllah’s
Messenger! We used to apply ruqyah during
Jahilliyah. What do you think of that? He
replied: ‘Present your ruqyah to me There is
nothing wrong with them as long as they do not
involve shirk”. (Muslim)
There is evidence from the ahadith which shows
that Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) used to
exorcise those who suffered from evil eye and
demonic possessions. Prophet Isa (as) also used
to exorcise those who were demonically
possessed.
Umm Aban Binte Al-Wazi Ibn Zare ibn Amir Al
Abdi narrates from her father that her grand
father Az- Zare went to Allah’s Messenger
(pbuh) with his possessed, insane son (or his
nephew). She says that my grandfather said,
‘When we came to Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) I
said, ‘I have come to you with my son (or
nephew) who is possessed so that you may pray
to Allah Almighty for him. Allah’s Apostle
(pbuh) said, ‘Bring him to me”.
He further says, “I had taken the child to the
Holy Prophet while the child was mounted. So I
dismounted him and I took off his travel clothes
and made him wear a pair of beautiful clothes.
Then I too hold of his hand and took him to
Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) who said, ‘Bring him
closer to me and put his back towards me”. He
also ordered for his clothes to be taken off. The
he raised his hands and put them in such a
way that I could see his arm pits. He was
saying, ‘Come out O enemy of Allah! Then the
boy began to gaze with his true eyes and not
with the previous gaze. Then the Allah’s
Messenger (pbuh) made the boy sit in front of
him and sent for some water with which he
wiped the child’s face and then he prayed for
the child. After the Holy Prophet’s (pbuh)
prayer no one in the group was superior to the
child (i.e. in intelligence and understanding).
(Musnad Imam Ahmad and Sunan Abu Dawood)
According to the ahadith, it is only the exorcism
which is done through the Quranic verses and
that which does not involve any kind of Shirk or
polytheism which is allowed in Islam. Any other
method which deviates from the principal of
Tawhid or the oneness of Allah (swt) will be
considered to be invalid and an exaggeration.

Should We Surrender Before The Evil Sirits?

So far I have discussed about the phenomenon
of demonic possession- its causes and its
symptoms. Now a big question which arises is
that how should the person who is possessed,
react to all this? Should he let the intruding
spirit completely destroy him by surrendering
before it or should he fight back?
First of all we need to understand that Satan is
not invincible.
Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran:
“Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been
weak’ (TMQ-4:76)
“Certainly, you shall have no authority over My
slaves, except those who follow you of the
Ghawin (Muskrikun and those who go astray,
criminals, polytheists and evil-doers’.
(TMQ-15:42)
“Verily! He has no power over those who believe
and put their trust only in their Lord (Allah) His
power is only on those who obey and follow him
(Satan) and those who join partners with Him
(Allah). (TMQ 69:99-100)
These verses bring out the weakness in Satan’s
schemes and tricks and also depict his
helplessness when it comes to misguiding the
pious people. Those who fear Allah (swt) obey
only Him and they know that Satan is their
biggest enemy who wants to spoil their Akhrah.
Unfortunately, those who have given in to the
temptations of this fleeting world and who
suffer from impulse control disorders such as
drug-addicts; compulsive gamblers etc- become
easy targets for demonic possession. Such
people can be compared to people who sleep
with their doors open, thereby, making it easy
for the burglars to break into their house. A
strong, closed door can prove to be a resistance
for the thieves, who may not be able to break it
open. Likewise, those who are pious and have a
strong will-power to resist evil cannot be
assaulted by demons. By maintaining Wudhoo
24/7 a Muslim can resist the Satanic entities
because the latter cannot assault a person who
is hygienic. They are mostly attracted towards
filthy people.
There are various levels of demonic possession
depending on its severity. If a target’s problem
is diagnosed in the initial stage then cure
becomes easy, like it happens in the case of
medical ailments. Even if the problem has
increased and become moderate, even then
surrendering before the evil forces would not be
the right thing to do. After all such evil entities
feed on the fear of their targets. Fear provides
them with energy, so not reacting to the tactics
of the devil and learning how to ignore their
whispers is a sure-shot way of thwarting the
devil.
In a nutshell, we should remember that Allah
(swt) is All-powerful and Satan is the deadliest
enemy of mankind. If we abstain from evil and
understand the cunning schemes of Satan then
it will be next to impossible for Satan or his ilk
to control our minds and lead us to insanity.

The Fifth Step Towards Healing Black Magic

Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said, ‘There are
three who will not enter paradise:
one who is
addicted to alcohol, one who breaks ties of
relationships and the one who believes in magic
(means using it). [Narrated by Abu Musa al-
Ashari (ra); Ahmad transmitted it.3656 of
Mishkat al-Masibah.
Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said, ‘Avoid
Mubiqat, i.e. shirk and witchcraft’. (Narrated by
Abu Hurairah (ra); Sahih Bukahri transmitted it.
Vol7, no. 659 of Sahih Bukhari).
The above mentioned ahadith and several
others have clearly pointed out that practicing
black magic is a grave sin and the black
magician will not get any share in the life
hereafter. This implies that those who indulge
in black magic, despite knowing about its harm,
do not obey Allah (swt). Instead, they are
followers of Satan and they worship him.
Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran, 9:108,
“…within it are men who love to purify
themselves and Allah loves those who purify
themselves”.
As evident by the above mentioned Quranic
verse, purity is an integral part of Islam and it
is a way of drawing closer to Allah (swt). Islam
has stressed the importance of purity and it is
incumbent on every Muslim to keep himself and
his surroundings clean. There are different ways
through which we can attain purity, such as
performing wudhu (a minor ablution) and ghusl
(a major ablution). Prophet Mohammad (pbuh)
has emphasized the importance of cleanliness
by describing it as ‘half of faith’.
On the contrary Satan and his followers,
whether jinnat or men, are filthy. The dirty
nature of Satan and his ilk is evident by the
fact that they like to visit dirty places such as
toilets. This is the reason why the Muslims are
supposed to recite the Sunah prayer, narrated
by Sahih Bukhari, ‘Allahumma inni authu bika
minal khubuthi wal kha’ith’, (O Allah! I seek
refuge with you from male and female devils)
before entering the toilet.
Therefore, if we wish to draw closer to our
Creator and away from Satan and his ilk, we
need to observe purity of mind, body and soul.
Suppose a pious Muslim gets stranded in a
place which is filthy and stinking and he gets
bedraggled due to mud. How would such a
person- who tries to keep himself pure most of
the time- feel in such a situation? Obviously he
may feel nauseated and may try to get away
from that dirty spot as soon as he can.
Now look at another example. Suppose a black
magician orders his evil jinnat to attack a
victim. The victim is in the habit of staying
clean, through wudhu and ghusl. Since the jinn
loves dirt and impurities, he will get stuck in a
tight spot. In the first example, the pious man
is unable to stand the filth as it was against his
nature and he grows panicky. On the other
hand, in the second case the jinn is unable to
tolerate the cleanliness and purity of the victim
and he flees. Therefore, maintaining cleanliness
is one of the remedies of curing black magic.
It is clear by now that Satan and is ilk are
impure entities and they prefer dirty places.
Hence, we can safely assume that they would
prefer foul odors rather than sweet fragrances.
Based on this finding, our second line of
defense against the black magician and his
devils will be the use of pure fragrances, such
as ittars, which have also been frequently used
by our Dear Prophet (pbuh).
Anas bin Malik (ra) reported that: Prophet
Mohammad (pbuh) never refused a gift of
perfume. Bukhari
Hazrat Aisha (ra) narrates that: I used to
perfume Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) with the
best scent available till I saw the shine
of scent on his beard’. (Bukhari)
In other words, the victim who is armed with
the quality of cleanliness and who uses ittars,
will be better equipped to deal with the filthy,
evil jinnat as opposed to a victim who is keeps
himself unclean.
